Craftswoman Sharon Smith is grounded in snowy Minnesota.
Yet her interests in diverse cultures leads her to countryside villages
abroad in search of folk crafts. Her collections have led her to develop
her own distinct style of creative imagery.
Sharon's love of nature helps her to create images that connect with the outside world year-long. She often gathers and sketches garden plants as models, transferring brilliant hues with brush strokes onto paper, and then onto cloth. Finally onto punch needle. Her designs may offer depth or whimsy in keeping with the folksy craft of fellow artisans. Although Sharon's primary craft medium is the handwork of punch needle, she also works with hand-dyed wool to develop new images using an old needlework form--penny rugs. Inspired by found art forms in her travels, she also lends her creativity to beadwork, wool rug punching, and quilting. Through French Fantasy Designs, she brings her unique style of patterns for you to enjoy. |
